When I was four, my preschool teacher asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I proudly said, “A tourist!” She told me that wasn’t a real career — and I cried. My mom hugged me and said, “If you really want it, you’ll figure out how to make it real someday.”
Turns out, she was right.

In my twenties, I chased every adventure I could: backpacking Europe, studying abroad in London, wandering South Africa’s wine country, floating through the Mediterranean and South Pacific, hiking Patagonia, and living a season in the south of France.
When I met Dallas, we added road trips, tiny rentals, and messy, beautiful detours to the mix. After getting married, we traded plane tickets for a small travel trailer with a rooftop tent and lived nomadically through the U.S. and Canada — two dreamers exploring the map one mile at a time.
And then… we found out we were expecting our first child. Everything changed overnight. We tried settling down, but the road tugged at us. So we started exploring again — slower at first, then with more confidence as our family grew.
Today, with four kids eight and under, we travel one school break at a time — finding joy, meaning, and adventure wherever we can. Who knows what the future holds? Maybe homeschool. Maybe a long overland trip. Maybe an adventure yacht if life gets wild.
But one thing is certain: we’re not done wandering.

Whether you’re daydreaming about your first family road trip or already juggling backpacks and snack cups on every trail, I know the feeling of wanting more — more connection, more wonder, more memories that last longer than toys ever will.
That’s why I share the real side of family travel: the simple routes, the doable adventures, the places that spark curiosity without needing a sabbatical or a trust fund. Every video and blog post is created with your family in mind — something to help you plan the next school-break getaway, inspire a Saturday adventure close to home, or remind you that exploring with kids is absolutely worth it.
You don’t need perfect circumstances to raise brave, curious kids…
just a little inspiration and a willingness to wander — together.
